Help us to be sustainable and stronger! A youth leadership platform for Uruguay: AIESEC.

AIESEC is global youth movement that aims for leadership development through intercultural and challeging experiences. We are apolitical and non-profit, our objective is to work as a platform to catalyze leadership and management skills in uruguayan youth.

AIESEC in Uruguay is one of the 126 national committees that AIESEC International has over the world. It was founded in 1984 and after a period of 10 years, it was closed. When AIESEC International decided to open AIESEC in different countries in the Southern Cone (which was composed by Chile, Argentina and Uruguay), AIESEC in Uruguay was managed and monitored, at the distance, by the Member Committee (National Executive Board) of AIESEC in Argentina. After a lot of years working with Argentina as the head of management, in 2014 AIESEC decides to be managed by its own Executive Board managed by an argentinian President, and other foreign Vice Presidents.

For the term 2014 - 2015 the entity was running only two types of exchanges which were Global Talent for Incoming Exchanges and Global Volunteer for Outgoing ones. At that moment, the entity was producing around 75 internships for the Global Volunteer program. These exchanges were paid by one of host entities thanks to a cooperation between Uruguay and Brazil (our main and biggest entity partner). That provition was a key for Uruguay to grow in financial terms and, as a effect of being sustainable at long term, in all other aspects.

From 2015 - 2016 and the other terms, the cooperation was not available (especially because fees per exchange participants was not feasible for host entities to be covered) and everything else was turned into less sustainability and unavailability to make investments for the products. Now, we are producing an average number of 20 exchanges per year, which is not enough to cover the experience for the local and abroad volunteers.

AIESEC in Uruguay is a relevant opportunity to improve human talent in Uruguay, a country of 3 million people, where about more than 50% is not part of the youth of the country. Most of the youth decides to leaves the country because they cannot see opportunities in their own place.

AIESEC is an opportunity to demonstrate them that Uruguay is a country of spaces for professional and personal development for them through our actions as NGO by the organizacion of events and activities related to enterpreneurship, leadership, global issues and professional skills for the growth of a country and its youth.

To make AIESEC in Uruguay a reality, we need key resources to motivate and support the experience of abroad members for the executive board and delivering projects and growth activities. With your help, we can achieve this!
