Help Us Rebuild Brgy. Catangnan, Siargao’s public school and put roofs on our villagers’ heads

Category 5 Super Typhoon Odette/Rai made a direct hit on our island last December 16, 2020 leaving majority of the island dwellers homeless. Our Baranggay Catangnan, the home of Cloud 9 surf spot that has put the island on the map, our school took a very bad beating from the typhoon and we want to rebuild it as it has a dual purpose of a learning space and an evacuation center. Fixing it will not only give the children a safe space to recover from the trauma of the calamity but it will also prepare us better for the unforeseen but certain calamities that we now know will could possibly happen to Siargao. Funds raised will also be used to purchase roofing and building materials so that our people can survive the next coming monsoon months.

We also lost part of our identity, the physical beauty of the island that made us #1 Island in Asia is now gone but our community’s soul is very much alive and we are continuously working together to rise again. We are optimistic but we are fighting an uphill battle and we are humble enough to admit that we can’t do it ourselves. We need the help of everyone who fell in love with our island home. It’s time to give back to the place that gave us so much love, laughter, good memories and lots of stoke.
