Desa Temajuk, Sambas District, West Kalimantan Province, is one of the forerunners of the State which has a big projection ahead. Temajuk Village area about 286 kilometers. It consists of three hamlets, Maludin Hamlet, Camar Bulan and Takam broken. The population of 485 families or 1887 souls.
The government plans the village of Temajuk as a tourist village on the border line that is able to compete with neighboring tourism. However, overall Temajuk Village is not sufficient to cover the projected tourism sector. One important factor of concern is the availability of clean water. Clean water is the basic necessity that becomes the standard of life of the society. Dusun Camar Bulan, one of the three hamlets in Temajuk Village, is the main gateway to enter the village from the Indonesian side, as well as the village government center. Physically environment, Hamlet Camar Bulan is a swamp plain that is commonly found on the edge of the island of Borneo. The swamp plains will be affected by the tides. Then, the swamp plants will be stimulated to grow and form an ecosystem. This swamp plain then forms a landscape that affects human life as well as groundwater characteristics. The community has adapted to build a house on stilts both on the river and inland. This is due to the capacity of the community (coping capacity) to avoid hazards due to rising sea water and river water due to tidal water is good. Meanwhile, the marsh plain layers that make up this area make the groundwater quality not so good. Ground water is often found to be reddish in contact with surrounding rocks. Therefore, our heart is called to improve the quality of life of the community through the provision of clean water.
Clean water alternatives are obtained through rain harvesting system to serve water needs at a particular location. The influence of the equatorial area, resulting in a high rainfall rate of 3800 mm / year, explains the very high potential for this type of utilization. High rainfall and minimum pollution is an indication of the quality of rainwater is still good. The rain water is collected through the roofs of residents' houses which are then channeled through the gutters to the shelters. Rainwater harvesting is done communally, meaning a rain reservoir is obtained from several rooftops and used by several families. The rainwater catchment area is calculated, as well as the volume that may be collected for each rain event. The results of these calculations are then used as the basis of the design of the water reservoir to be made. In addition, the need for water per family also needs to be taken into account as the projected use of water in a container. Water in the container is not necessarily used after being accommodated through rain, but must be waited for a certain time until the impurities in the water settle. We will also examine the feasibility of water reservoirs and the water quality that is accommodated, so that the project can go on and can be a pilot if it is to be applied in a self-supporting way in the other two hamlets. The loading of this project will involve the community in its making. This is done so that people have a sense of responsibility and a sense of belonging to this project. The data during the project creation will be submitted to the Head of Dusun and Kepala Desa, for the manufacture of other rain collection systems.
