Who we are We are a young couple living in Northern Cyprus with our two children ages 3 and 10. We moved here from England 4 years ago and are attempting to set up a life and a business here. We work hard and strive to achieve our goals everyday. I teach English to young children and give fitness classes and my husband works at a university and also gives private maths physics and sports lessons in the evening. Despite our hard work the econonic climate is proving tough to compete with and with minimum wage set at aprx 1400tl £387 per month and employers not always complying with the law, it is has become evident that becoming self employed is our best chance of suceeding in life and business in our new life. What are we raising money for? In order to become self employed we would like to fund and build a multi purpose building , in order to help more people like us deliver education and leisure opportunities to the people of north cyprus. The idea would be that we create a multi-purpose centre that could be used to give anything from sports lessons, to coffee mornings, to private teaching lessons, youth groups, seminars, self help groups, mother and baby days, birthdays and parties to name but a few. Why it will help This will help in a number of ways: it will allow us to have a place to provide all of our lessons under one roof and remove the need to pay rent (extortionate rent rates si the reason for many failed businesses in NC) It will allow us to offer many educational and leisure opportunities to our community where previously there has not been such an establishment or opportuity to do so The centre will also be available to rent to anyone in the community teachers/instructors/event organisers/ familes/ schools, providing them with a place to teach/earn/learn/entertain and socialise. Why should people get involved There are so many working people out there with great business ideas, but the fact of the matter remains, that without the funds those ideas will never be anything more than a dream, and without your help our business will remain just that, a dream. If you ever found yourself wishing for a hand up, a bit of help or that winning lotto ticket then you know how we feel right now. if we were rich we would put our hand in our pockets buy a building, set up a business and make even more money, but starting from the ground up requires a bit of help. With your help we can achieve this and any donations are greatly appreciated. I have never tried anything like this before, but if you dont ask you never get. This is me,wishing us luck :-)
