Help to build a shelter for homeless animals

Please, do not look away! These animals urgently need your help!

Our organization has been renting the same place for the animal shelter for more than 10 years, but the new owner is going to kick all the animals out.

We are situated in the little town of Bendery in Moldova, Transnistria region. In 2010 we started a public organization called The Center for Animal Help because the need for such an organization was critical. A lot of animals – abandoned, lonely, miserable and sick - were suffering and dying on the streets. The local government had chosen the inhumane way of getting rid of them, which is shooting.When compassionate people want to protect stray dogs and cats, they bring animals to us.

We started from an idea, but in 2012 we found premises where we could stay and built our shelter up with the help of volunteers.

People brought animals to us faster than we could built chambers or get heating in the building. But, little by little, everything started to work.

Today, like years ago, we survive only at the mercy of charitable donations. Unfortunately, we can’t find homes for all the animals. Sometimes people throw out entire litters of animals. We do not have enough resources, but we cannot refuse to provide care for the injured cats and dogs which have been run over by a car, beat to a pulp or have wounds. There are 670 animals in our shelter today.

We have sterilized and found homes for thousands of animals. Unfortunately, even after many years of our successful work we do not have any support from the state and cannot stop the government program of animal control, which simply means brutal massacre over them.

They used to catch animals under the cover of sterilization but instead put them to a gas chamberand threw dead bodies away to a pit. Nowadays, they shoot them with a drug named dithylin and animals die slowly and painfully from overdose. Sometimes the pet dogs are killed this way by mistake, and It often happens that schoolchildren witness the animals’ death agony.
