The Virgin of Carmel High School (VCHS) Batch ’98 through the Saro Kita, Kita Saro Movement, is hoping to raise 50,000 PHP (1,000 USD) to help the Marine Fisheries Reserved and Sanctuary in Tiwi, Albay build proper holding tanks for the sea turtles in April this year.
Currently, the sanctuary is using Tiwi Frybank’s tanks temporarily to house the rescued sea turtles. An average of 30 sea turtles are rescued every year, since the sanctuary was built in 2012. At least two sea turtles are released back to the ocean every month.
I am writing to you on behalf of my colleagues to raise the issue on the need to help the sanctuary in protecting and conserving the marine lives and in ensuring that the rescued animals make it back to the open water.
As individuals who are driven by the urge to help the community particularly the sea turtles, our funds are limited. The active support of individuals and groups like yourself help us to continue our aim to protect, conserve and promote our marine environment particularly the highly endangered sea turtles.
