Campaign Story
The Convent of Pharan, dedicated to Prophet Moses, is a dependency (metochion) of the nearby Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine, Mount Sinai, Egypt. Five sisters live the Orthodox hesychastic monastic life here. Last winter, torrential rains which caused unusually large floods, completely destroyed the walls enclosing the Convent grounds (see the attached video links). Ever since, the sisters have been left exposed to the elements and to potential intruders. We are raising money, asking pious monastic-loving people everywhere to donate - however little they can - to help rebuild the Convent's walls. The total length of walls that need to be rebuilt is 150 m (500 ft). The cost is 20,000 Euros. This way the sisters can once again live their monastic life in safety. Since in the current world situation no pilgrims are visiting the Sinai peninsula, the Abbess of the Convent has given her blessing to this online fundraising campaign.

Wall completed this year (2022) through all your generosity and sacrifice!
Update posted by Areti Gavrielatou at 03:56 pmWonderful news! Thanks to all your sacrifices and generosity towards the nuns' plight over the last very difficult year, the badly damaged walls of the Pharan convent in Sinai were completely restored! As you can see in the photo, the walls were built back stronger, with an adequate drainage system
