The Tasmanian Devil is a highly unique species only found on the island of Tasmania, Australia. As Australia's largest living marsupial carnivore, they are the clean up crew of Tasmania, eating any sick and injured wildlife and maintaining a healthy ecosystem in Tasmania. Hunted to near extinction the the early 20th century, Devlls felt their biggest blow in 1996. It was during this year that they contracted a devastating disease, a contageous cancer, that has wiped out over 85% of the wild population. This cancer grows on the face of the devil, making them unable to eat or function after only a matter of months. Currently, there is no vaccine or cure.
Fortunately, there are extensive breeding programs on the mainland of Australia to prevent their total extinction however, it is my dream to capture the Devil in all its glory in its wild state of Tasmania. As a highly elusive, mysterious and misunderstood species there is so much more to learn about Devils in the wild and it is my dream to capture some intimate footage of their wild lives, before it is too late.
Right now, I am just a zoo keeper, looking after Devil's and their many cousins in a safe and nurturing environment. However, it is out in the wilds of Tasmania that the Devil needs some real support. My dream is to raise awareness around the world about the plight of the Tasmanian Devil. One of Australia's leading figures in Devil conservation once said, "Once people get to know and understand the Devil, they will want to help it". It is my aim to introduce the Devil to you in a way that it has never been seen before. They are such a critically important species and they need our help. Please help me raise funds to organise and publish a documentary on the Tasmanian Devil, before it is too late.
If the goal is not reached, all proceeds will go directly to 'Devil Ark', the worlds largest conservation breeding program for the Tasmanian Devil. Please support this great cause for one of the worlds most fantastic wild animals.
