ABOUT ME

I am Stephanie Ria Colinco from Bacolod City, Philippines. I am a sinner saved by God’s grace and I desire to serve the Lord full-time in ministry. I believe that the Lord has called me to be a Biblical counselor and has led me to study Biblical counseling at The Master’s University this Fall 2018. This fundraising project is to help me with adjusting in a new country and helping me pay for my first semester. I had a slight delay with visa processing so I did not have time to make the necessary preparations before school starts.

After graduating from college with a degree in psychology, the Christian school that my grandfather founded, which is also my high school alma mater, hired me as a school counselor. Even though I felt I was incompetent, I took the job believing that the Lord will equip me. Every day I struggle to provide the counsel that the students truly need. I greatly desire to help them through the Biblical way. There are also people in my church who, because of my psychology background, seek my help for counseling. But I hesitate to help them with psychological counseling because I myself am not convinced that it is the answer. At the same time, as much as I want to help them, I am also not yet equipped for Biblical counseling.

A lot of opportunities for Biblical counseling await. As far as I know, there are no Biblical counselors in my city and only a few in my country. Just in my church alone, I can see the great need to give counsel from a Biblical point-of-view and if the Lord wills, I want to minister to my brethren through Biblical counseling. I desire that at the end of this program, I will be a more efficient counselor at Maranatha Christian College where I am now working and start a Biblical counseling ministry at Maranatha Baptist Church. I also desire to someday share my expertise and knowledge through teaching it to Bible students at Maranatha Baptist Bible College, pastors, Bible women, church workers, and Christians in general.

I am facing a lot of impossibilities, especially when it comes to financing my studies. But I believe that if this is where God wants me to be, He will provide. Supporting the Lord's ministries is wise investment of our resources. I believe that God has blessed us so we can advance His Kingdom on earth. I am claiming God's promises that He will provide my every need. He can use you, or He can use other means. In the end, it will all be for His glory and honor. I pray that you will also see the need as the Lord has also put in my heart a great desire for this ministry, and you will respond to how the Lord can use you to be a part of this great ministry.
