Hello! I am Aaron Sta. Maria, an undergraduate student currently taking up BA European Languages in the College of Arts and Letters in the University of the Philippines Diliman. I have an excellent and well-attested academic performance, with a summa cum laude standing.

Last February, I got accepted in Trazos: Sharing Languages, an AIESEC exchange program in Mexico City, Mexico that involves cross-cultural and language exchange and cooperation pursuant to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations Development Program. This is a six-week program that involves teaching my native languages, Filipino and English, as well as the Filipino culture and traditions to Mexican students based on human development, cultural diversity, social impact, leadership, business, entrepreneurship, and globalization. Moreover, I am selected in a highly-competitive selection process that selects only twenty participants among the 195 countries of the world, upon which I will be the sole representative of my country, the Philippines.

This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me as an enthusiast of languages and culture. It is my dream to be able to share my knowledge of the Philippine languages and culture, and it will bring me great pride to be able to represent my country in a foreign soil. This opportunity will also greatly aid me in my studies as a Spanish major, as I will have been immersed in the language that I am currently studying, Furthermore, I genuinely believe that this experience will enhance my aptitude for language learning and teaching as I hope to join the faculty to teach aspiring students when I graduate from the University.

However, it brings me sadness that I currently do not have enough resources to finance this opportunity. My mother will be laid off from her decades-old work this May, and the remittances that my OFW father send us barely cover our monthly expenses. Furthermore, I wish to request for outside financial assistance so as to not burden my family as my mother will be undergoing surgery in the following weeks. I currently work as a student assistant in the university, however I am afraid that my meager wages as a student assistant will not be able to cover the expenses that I will incur for this program.

It is with great hope that I wish that you may be able to help me realize my dreams!
