We want to give these people affordable clean energy- solar lighting solutions via our Solar Home Systems kits that will give them the following benefits:

  1. Monthly Savings for a family of almost KES 900 (KES 600/month on lighting and KES 300 on mobile charging per month).
  2. Better Health- Kerosene causes eye and respiratory related complications.
  3. Improved Education- children have more hours of study even up to 40 extra hours per month.
  4. Saving of the Environment- each Solar Home Kit results in savings of 50kgs of CO2 per month.

Here in Africa, It reach a point where you just wish that the daylight will just remain 24hrs. Reason? Darkness. Where I come from, we are not lucky to be one of those who are served by the national electricity grind. We rely entirely on kerosene lanterns; the fumes from these risks our health and it doesn't provide enough light.

Worse still, when doing homework, you cry your tears out due to smoke from these lanterns. Studies have revealed that these kerosene fumes cause illness. All these problems can be solved by implementing simple solution of solar powered lanterns. I need these funds to buy solar powered lights that can be charged during the day to provide light at night. Plenty of clean light.

This will be a great milestone and it will definitely improve the livelihood of my community and more importantly enable our children to study.

Household light makes global heat: high black carbon emissions from kerosene wick lamps. Environ Sci Technol , 2012. Help me begin the process of reducing these emissions by donating to me. Thank You!
