Our dear friend, Paolo R. Aquino, is confined in Victor R. Potenciano (VRP) Medical Center, Mandaluyong since Tuesday (26 Nov), and in ICU since Wednesday (27 Nov). For unknown reasons, he lost his motor ability- it was his right arm at first, then his left, then his legs. He underwent several tests- CBC, FBS, ECG, etc. and all are normal. He also went through cranial and neck MRI and the findings are okay or unremarkable.

Yesterday, his neurologist suspects that Paolo has Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS). According to WHO, it is a rare disease in which a person's immune system attacks the peripheral nerves. (For more information, you may visit https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/guillain-barr%C3%A9-syndrome).

The doctor ordered to start the treatment by giving him Intravenous immunoglobulin or IVIG which is use to replace a person's anti-bodies. He has to be given 8 bottles per day of IVIG for 5 days and each bottle of IGIV costs almost PhP 12,000.00.

With this, we are asking for your generosity, if you could spare a little to support Paolo get through GBS. We are also asking for prayers for him and his family in this trying times.
