Hello fur friends. My name is Laila and I'm a cat mom to this beautiful Persian boy named Pablo. Pablo was originally owned by a couple who migrated to Germany early this year. He was turned over to me in November of last year. We discusses very little about his personality and condition since the couple was busy and in a hurry. The boy was huge, commanding and very very grumpy. Although it was challenging to have him warm up to us - my friends and I took delight and pride in knowing that he could kick our asses any day.
I started noticing changes a few weeks ago. His aloof and somewhat hostile personality has changed into someone clingy and needy. I knew he wasn't feeling well because my neighbor's cats all had the "kitty flu" and they hang out in my garden. We managed to keep the flu under control but about a week or so ago I noticed Pablo's rapid weight loss.
I took him to the vet the other day. My big boy has been reduced to ALMOST 2 kilos. The doctor said he has anorexia. They gave him four shots. One for the flu, deworming, vitamin boost and antibiotics. They said he was so thin they couldn't grasp any flesh they had to insert the needle through his skin. I was heartbroken.
The vet further explained that his kidneys may be affected after I mentioned how much water he drinks. I thought it was better for animals to drink lots of water but apparently that was a sign of kidney damage. He was prescribed a special type of digestive cat food high in protein to help him gain weight.
Today I went back to have the vet perform tests to prove renal failure. He will be placed on a special diet but worse case scenario he will undergo surgery to remove the blockage.
Fur friends, I am asking for help simply because I am very overwhelmed. I work as an online teacher but has stopped teaching since my teaching tools are no longer at par with the school's equipment and speed standards. I make ends meet by checking and editing school and work papers written in English by Asian students and it doesn't pay well just enough for us to buy food on a weekly basis. I won't start a regular job until mid May and I highly doubt Pablo can wait that long.
Please help me get through at least one month of his special diet so he can go have that surgery if ever. I simply cannot afford his special diet which costs about $3 a day. Furthermore it's even more depressing to admit that although I went as far as taking him to the vet twice, I'm afraid I can no longer afford further vet visits and medications. I don't want to see him waste away if he has a chance to get better. Please help Pablo. ๐๐๐ Thank you very much.
