US$592.00raised of $2,000.00 goal
Hi friends. My name is Lorine Auma. I'm from Kenya Homa Bay, near Lake Victoria. Here in Homa Bay we are working on an organic permaculture farming project that involves teaching and training adults and children how to make gardens at home and at school using permaculture technologies. Learning the skills and applying the knowledge of permaculture uplifts and empowers our community in being self-sufficient. At the moment we are struggling as we suffer from lack of clean water for drinking and for watering our crops. As a result of this shortage, our veggies are turning yellow and our crops are less successful. In order for our community to succeed in self-sufficiency we need regular access to clean water and this requires digging a well for water storage so we have easily accessible water for every time we water the garden and for drinking. Our request from well-wishers and donors, who recognize the monumental importance of clean water, self-sufficiency and food security, is to please aid us with whatever funds you are able to in order for us to reach our fund-raising goal. No amount is taken for granted, whether it is $1 or $ 5 or more, our community understands this donation as you giving a gift from your heart. You are giving the gift of clean water; you are gifting the continuing of healthful life and power to our community.
In our community, our engineers and experts are ready to help us complete our mission once we have raised the funds to successfully continue our project. The digging requires a 70 ft by 1ft hole to fill with very clean water for drinking, then we will connect the well storage water to a pumping machine so we may water our crops. While you consider donating to our cause, I hope you will also consider our hard work and commitment to better strengthen and empower our community in the form of food security and in easing the suffering of poverty. Imagine the joy our children will feel by being able to fetch water for their elders and others in the community. Instead of walking many long miles to get dirty, contaminated water from a distant dam during a deadly pandemic, our community could be more at ease and safer with our very own well water. Right now, out of 500 people in our community and 50 children, we have 250 people who are involved in our project and 45 children, this population includes widows and orphans who are all suffering as a result of our water shortage.
Our main mission is to provide a space for people to work and prosper together in a flexible environment; to engage and learn through organic sustainable farming and permaculture. By teaching the children and other adults permaculture, earth friendly techniques and skills, we will continue to build and leave behind us a legacy of care and self-sufficiency. With your generous donation, you become a part of this legacy!
To assist and encourage the application of these skills and ideas in our surrounding communities, and amongst our neighbors, please help us in our cause.
