Help Monde Overcome Cancer

Let's help raise funds for Monde's fight against cancer.

On July 31, 2022, Monde went to the hospital because of his unbearable headache. Little did he know, it was due to his internal bleeding. He was given three bags of blood during his confinement from August 1 to August 4, 2022. He was going to undergo endoscopy but his RT PCR test showed he was COVID positive. He was confined for this and had to wait for a month for his endoscopy. During which time, he was given medicine for ulcer.

On September 12, 2022, Monde underwent endoscopy. He was found to have peptic ulcer and right next to the ulcer was a 3x2 cm gastric mass. The biopsy result indicated adenocarcinoma more popularly known as cancer. On the second week of October, he went to a cancer institute in the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas Hospital (UST). The findings of UST was consistent with the initial findings of the first hospital where he had his tests. As such, on October 25, 2022, Monde was confined and underwent a 5 hour operation for his gastric mass removal.

There were nodes on the 3x2cm gastric mass. Monde's doctors told him that he has Stage 3 cancer. He will need to take a series of chemotherapy treatment. He is currently still being evaluated if he can already undergo chemotherapy as his body is still recovering from his major surgery from before.

Monde was discharged last November 7 with a 580,000 PHP hospital bill (9,919.97 USD). He was able to get assistance from the government and health insurance amounting to 200,000 PHP (3,420.68 USD). Monde still had to cover 380,000 PHP (6,499.29 USD). Monde is doing his best to be optimistic, his financial situation is looking a bit grim. Monde’s father has Stage 3 Colon Cancer so his family’s finances has taken quite a hit already.

Monde’s fight with cancer is only just beginning.
