Help Mercy Murimi get a Kidney Transplant.

Having a chat with Perez, I couldn’t help but notice how shaky her hands were. 4 years of dialysis! A teacher by profession who at some point ran a school in Kisumu for two years, now unable to cater for her own needs because of kidney failure. This mother of 3, now relies fully on her son who is a freelance ICT person and at times her church. She feels that she has become a burden to her family. Her husband who is retired cannot help her much with the medication costs which amount to KShs5,000 every month exclusive of the special diet she has to take due of her condition and the transport cost to the hospital where she has been having the dialysis done.

Sometimes, even getting to Kenyatta National Hospital, Nairobi, from where she lives in Kayole, is a problem for her. Her son has to get a taxi for her at a cost of KShs1,000 and when the transport cost is hard to get, they have to use public means. “The simple things that I was able to do before have become difficult for me”, she explains to me. She tells me how active she was and now she can’t help her youngest son, who is currently at the university pursuing a medical degree, to raise his school fees and it breaks her heart to see him constantly chased away from school. Her kidney failure has completely weighed down the family’s financial situation and that is why they are seeking for your assistance to get their mum treated.

Helping out Perez and her family raise KShs2.5 million that will cater for her kidney transplant, transport and accommodation cost in India will be the best gift you can give to this family. No donation is too little. Give towards her treatment so she can fulfil her dream of running her own school and bettering the lives of children through education. What a great inspiration, that at 55 years, this humble woman still holds her dream close.
