I am Temitope Adegbite, the Head Photographer of, and founder of Melony Photography, a startup photography company. My entrepreneurship journey started in 2009 as a University undergraduate when I signed up as a Barber (apprentice). In 2011, I started an Artist Management company called Psycho Precaution. I had only one artist on the label and gave the company my best but we liquidated it in 2012 due to lack of finance and breach of trust. Since then, I'd moved around different industries, trying to find my foot, learning the ropes and improving my entrepreneurship skills. And most importantly, figuring out the best way the juice flows.
In 2015, I developed interest in the art of visual communication, telling stories through pictures and images. With my little savings, I enrolled in a Photography Academy where I became the master of the art.
Same year, I started Melony Photography. My vision was to create Nigeria's first structured photography company where professionals such as photographers, retouchers, graphic artists, marketers and brand experts can work together to produce high-end photography products.
Melony Photography took off like a rocket in Lagos and I started shooting for friends and a handful of celebrities in my network. Shortly, the heavens smiled and I started working with companies like Moet & Chandon, Hennessy and Belvedere.
Today, Melony Photography has evolved from a one-man business to a growing startup, an employer of talents. We currently have a Photography Studio in Surulere, Lagos, where we create memorable experiences for our clients. However, WE WANT MORE.
My dream for Melony Photography is to be a fully functioning photography studio offering worldclass commercial, event, architecture and portrait photography for organisations and individuals at competitive rates.
While playing the commercial game, we are as well giving back to our immediate community. We run a Photo Academy that offers free and cost-effective training and flexible classes to would-be photographers; where we teach the art and the business of photography.
Again, WE WANT MORE.
AND THAT'S WHY I'M WRITING THIS POST.
Photography business is more than owning a camera. It demands not only a quality photographer, but quality lenses, lights, prints and a whole lot of gamuts.
