Help me start a new life

With due respect, I would like to present myself and the issue that is my great concern. My name is Eleni Duplessis and Former Head, Department of Translation and Interpretation, National University of Modern Languages (NUML) Islamabad.

I am a Greek National who has been living and working in Islamabad since 2014 on a project on Translation. My project consisted of establishing a Department of Translation and Interpretation based on an international concept.

I have a broad knowledge and expertise. Despite this, I find myself in a difficult situation.

I need support to leave Pakistan and start a new life elsewhere. I left Greece in 2014, I was unemployed for very long time (the economic crisis in Greece is still on-going).I wanted to avoid becoming homeless. There was no alternatives in sight, I decided to come to Islamabad where I knew people. It would facilitate the integration, Two weeks after arrival I was appointed at the University. It was a great moment, a turning point after unemployment. Despite the salary being low, I was working on my project and was happy with that. But due to change in administration and internal politics, my contract came to an end. More than six months have passed, I am still without work and consequently without income. I am trying to find work in another country. But I lack the financial means to sustain myself and to move abroad. I really don't know now what else to do.

I am alone here with my 3 cats (this is my only family) and personal belongings. Despite good qualifications, job search has not been successful. I need to start a new life elsewhere.

Mit gebührendem Respekt möchte ich mich und das Thema, das meine große Sorge ist, präsentieren. Mein Name ist Eleni Duplessis. Ich bin die ehemalige Leiterin der Abteilung für Übersetzung und Dolmetschen an der Nationalen Universität für moderne Sprachen (NUML) in Islamabad.

Ich bin Griechische Staatsbürgerin. Seit 2014 befinde ich mich in Islamabad. Meine Arbeit an der Universität war für mich geradezu ideal. Ich konnte ein Projekt führen und leiten. Es bestand darin, eine Abteilung für Übersetzung und Dolmetschen auf der Grundlage eines internationalen Konzepts zu etablieren.

Außerdem habe ich ein breites Wissen und Fachwissen. Leider befinde ich mich in einer schwierigen Lage.

Ich brauche finanzielle Unterstützung, um Pakistan verlassen zu können und ein neues Leben anderswo zu beginnen. Ich verließ Griechenland im Jahr 2014. Nach langer Arbeitslosigkeit drängte die Zeit (die Wirtschaftskrise in Griechenland hält immer noch an). Um nicht obdachlos zu werden und da es keinen anderen Weg gab, entschloß ich mich nach Islamabad zu kommen, wo ich Leute kannte. Zwei Wochen nach meiner Ankunft fand ich eine Stelle an der hiesigen Universität. Das war geradezu ideal. Trotz des niedrigen Gehalts arbeitete ich an meinem Projekt und war damit zufrieden. Aber durch den Wechsel in der Verwaltung und wegen der internen Politik kam mein Vertrag zu Ende. Ich bin schon mehr als 6 Monate ohne Arbeit und folglich ohne Einkommen. Ich versuche, eine Stelle in einem anderen Land zu finden. Ohne finanzielle Mittel, ist es nicht möglich, ins Ausland zu ziehen.

Ich bin alleine hier mit meinen 3 Katzen (das ist meine Familie) und persönlichen Sachen. Trotz guter Qualifikationen war die Arbeitssuche nicht erfolgreich. Ich muss ein neues Leben anderswo beginnen.
