Hello. My name is Carolina Gómez, I am the ballet teacher and director of the Ballet School of Juan Griego, on Margarita Island, Venezuela.

We have been training children and young people for 8 years and we have had the opportunity to give scholarships to those students with less resources for their academic training. We have also participated in different Ballet competitions as well as in the Grand Prix Pura Danza, achieving many gold, silver and bronze medals from our students that fill us with pride.

At this time, due to the crisis in our country, it is increasingly difficult for us to offer training to the community. We have suffered the theft of our air conditioning units and children and young people are in need to do classes in high temperatures of up to 95-104°F, so that students suffer from dizziness and extreme exhaustion.

Also, the materials to repair floors are very expensive so we have resorted to using material to make billboards to cover them, which is not ideal.That without counting innumerable details that added together, create an environment not conducive to receive the necessary training.

In the past, we collaborated with the students by donating ballet shoes and uniforms but today the story is different. Today we need help to adequately prepare the space so that they can receive training and dance.The high costs of materials and equipment make it practically impossible to recondition the classroom.

If you support us, together we can help our students to train in an appropriate environment without risk of injury and we will post on the social networks photographs of the progress in the repair and restoration of the ballet school.

Hola. Mi nombre es Carolina Gómez, soy la profesora de ballet y directora de la Escuela de Ballet de Juan Griego, en la Isla de Margarita, Venezuela.

Llevamos 8 años entrenando niños y jóvenes y hemos tenido la oportunidad de otorgar becas a aquellos alumnos de menores recursos para su formación académica. También hemos participado en distintas competencias de Ballet asi como en el Grand Prix Pura Danza, logrando muchas preseas de Oro, plata y bronce de parte de nuestros estudiantes que nos llenan de orgullo.

En estos momentos, debido a la crisis en nuestro país, cada vez nos resulta más difícil poder ofrecer formación a la comunidad. Hemos sufrido el robo de nuestras unidades de aire acondicionado y los niños y jóvenes se ven en la necesidad de hacer clases en altas temperaturas de hasta 35 a 40 grados Celsius, por lo que los alumnos sufren mareos y agotamiento extremo. Igualmente, los materiales para reparar pisos son muy costosos por lo cual hemos recurrido a utilizar material para hacer vallas publicitarias para cubrirlos, lo cual no es ideal. Eso sin contar innumerables detalles que sumados en conjunto, crean un ambiente poco propicio para recibir la formación necesaria.

Anteriormente colaborábamos con los estudiantes donándoles zapatillas y uniformes pero hoy la historia es distinta. Hoy necesitamos ayuda para poder acondicionar el espacio adecuadamente para que puedan recibir entrenamiento y bailar. Los altos costos de materiales y equipos hacen prácticamente imposible reacondicionar el salón.

Si nos apoya, juntos podemos ayudar a nuestros estudiantes a capacitarse en un ambiente apropiado sin riesgo de lesiones y publicaremos en las redes sociales fotografías del progreso en la reparación y restauración de la escuela de ballet.
