I am a Social Worker, working in the field of substance abuse (drug addiction) prevention and education since 2006 in Pakistan.
According to the 2013 UNODC report, around 6.7 million people of the total population of Pakistan used controlled substances, which also include the misuse of prescription drugs. An estimated 860,000 people are heroin users and 320,000 are opium users. Combined, 1.06 million people (aged 15-64) are using opiates.
There is an essential need to work for those people who are vulnerable to drug addiction, as well as to protect society from the negative consequences of drug addiction.I understand that this work will need a lot of time, efforts, resources, and commitment, but my contribution could also make an enormous difference.
I am heading to San Diego U.S., in the first week of June 2018 to attend an International Forum, where I will be presenting my abstract titled as “Consolidating Efforts for Drug Demand Reduction in Pakistan”.
I am able to secure USD $1,000/- and need USD $1,325/- more for my trip success.
Help me in reaching to my destination to highlight at the international forum ‘the worse drug scenario in Pakistan’.
