Help Me Help Others in Thailand!

Hi there fellow friends and anyone else viewing my fundraiser! My name is Savannah Wilson and I am currently a college student residing in Seattle. I am a Pacific Northwest child and am currently majoring in English with a writing emphasis. My hobbies include reading, writing, singing, playing sports, hiking, beating my friends at Mario Party, and generally living a life full of adventure. Since my love for adventuring and travelling is so strong, I have decided to pursue travelling abroad in order to learn and fully emerse myself in different cultures. During this school year I applied to Edventure International, an organization dedicated towards creating opportunities for passionate individuals to positively make an impact globally, and was accepted as a prospective student. I have chosen to participate in the Thailand program, which will take place between August 8th - August 29th 2015. EDventure is "committed to developing education and create a positive social impact on their programs internationally. These are carefully designed to incorporate a sustainable approach that cultivates and strengthens each individuals’ leadership skills and personal capabilities." After experiencing Edventure's leadership volunteer programs, I will return home having gained professional development, and with a broader perspective of the world around me. Through specific volunteer projects with EDventure’s partners overseas, my efforts on my program will focus on assisting in various ways within schools, communities, and environmental conservation efforts where they are especially needed. Activities of my program include learning about traditional Thai culture, engaging in volunteer projects in rural villages of Thailand (ranging from teaching English to local students to planting fresh farm produce with self-sustaining methods), partaking in relaxing traditional massage, living on an elephant sanctuary (bathing, preparing food, and spreading the word of protecting their species), zip-lining across tree tops, hiking to waterfalls, embracing a Thai cooking class, and many more life changing activities. As I haven't even been on an airplane in my life, you know that this will be one of the most memorable summers of my entire life. Now here's where you come in! As a broke college student struggling to get by, financing this trip has proven to be very difficult for me. So far I have paid off $1000 for the trip and $300 for the plane tickets. I still owe $2800 and even though I am currently working two jobs while studying full time at a University, it is difficult to come up with the money. Please help me experience all of these great, eye-opening activities this summer and donate to my cause! I will be very greatful for any type of donation that heads my way.
