Help Me Change The Lives of Those Living in FIJI

I'm beyond excited to share some incredible news with you—I have the opportunity to participate in a two-week voluntary nutrition placement with Involvement Volunteers International (IVI) in Fiji, from July 13th to July 27th, 2024. This is an amazing chance for me to make a real difference in the lives of Fijian communities struggling with diabetes and obesity.

Why Fiji, you ask? Well, the statistics speak for themselves. Almost 1 in 3 Fijians is now diabetic, and Fiji has the highest death rate from diabetes in the world. Obesity and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are widespread due to a lack of public health education and the prevalence of cheap, high-carbohydrate, and fatty foods.

During my placement, I'll be working alongside other qualified practitioners to provide health promotion and free assessments in villages, schools, and community centres. Together, we'll raise awareness about nutrition, the importance of physical activity, and strategies for preventing obesity and NCDs.

But here's where I need your help: While the flights and insurance costs have been covered, I still need support to cover placement fees. Your donation will enable me to participate in this life-changing experience, and contribute to improving the health and well-being of Fijian communities. Any extra funds raised will be used to purchase basic sanitation packs for women in need, and stationary and art packs for children in the villages.
