Campaign Story
I am Noel Cendana from the Philippines. I am 53 years old. I am an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) Working in Abu Dhabi, UAE as an Engineer.
My family and I have been trying to live a normal life here in Abu Dhabi despite the fact that we have a son who was born prematurely and due to this he has been diagnosed as having Severe Developmental Delay and Static Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. This has made my son house bound and not able to enjoy normal activities that most kids do. He is unable to attend school and a family member is caring for him full time at home. He requires feeding through peg tubes and has frequent hospital visits. This is a lifetime condition of him. My son is now 6 years old.
I am the sole earner for my family and my income has been a constant struggle to pay for bills, our accommodation and family needs but despite all of these, we have managed and have placed all our faith and trust in God. We are unable to move back as I must work and live in Abu Dhabi to ensure my son continues his treatment. His treatment is complimentary here. We would not be able to afford to pay for his treatment in the Philippines.
Last December 24th 2019, I was the bearer of bad news. I was diagnosed with Mixed Phenotypic Acute Leukemia (MPAL) T- Myeloid NOS. It is a rare type of Leukemia involving both T – ALL and Myeloid type. I have since undergone extensive chemotherapy here in Sheikh Khalifa Medical City. My condition is a “High Risk Aggressive Leukemia”, therefore I am required to be in the hospital for a few months. This has been tough for my family as I am unable to work and provide for them.
For the Bone Marrow Transplant, I will have to travel to St Luke’s Hospital in the Philippines and have it done there, as UAE does not have this treatment available here. My insurance will not cover my treatment out of UAE. The burden of the costs is all on me for the treatment and travel.
I have been fighting this battle alone and now helplessly unable to do so. My situation has taken a turn for the worst and I humbly knocking on your door, as I need your kind help. I have no savings and unable to work now. I need financial help to fund my treatment in the Philippines. My life is precious and I must survive for my family, especially for my son. He needs me to work in Abu Dhabi to support his treatment.
My aim is to achieve full remission and then to have a Bone Marrow Transplant as this is indispensable part of my treatment to gain full recovery from this illness.
I am positive that I can get through this with the help of our Almighty God, friends, family and generous people like you. The cost for my treatment is 4,000,000 / (est 80,000 USD) Every little help means a lot to me.
Please donate whatever you can. If you are unable to donate then you can still help me by please passing my message on to your friends and family. If you are unable to pass the message on then you can still help me by saying a prayer for me and my family.
