On the 7th July 2016 at 4pm our world turned into a terrible nightmare. My father Ray Speechley was suffering dementia and in respite care went missing from the nursing home where he was staying
Dad had climbed two fences and disappeared. He is 77 years old.
Police, Rescue services conducted search for the next two days and found nothing, but there are witnesses who confirm sighting him last at 4.30pm on the Princes Highway.
On August 6, the largest ground search in 30 years was conducted to look for him in bush land and surrounding areas it included Police, multiple rescue services, horses, dirt bikes, cadaver dogs, Westpac helicopter but they found nothing.
As of today Dad has been missing over 5 months. With no sightings of him since the 7th July 2016.
“It’s a terrible nightmare. Dad’s missed his birthday, mum, mine, his daughter-in-law, grandson, great grandson, great granddaughter and the worst is he missed his 58th wedding anniversary.
“People say we need closure but how can you get closure when you just don't know: is dad in the bush, did he get a lift somewhere. The police won't be performing anymore ground searches unless a lead is found, so I have already organised two bush land searches myself I just can’t give up.
“I made a promise that one way or another I would bring my father home and I won't stop still I can do that, I just can't give up but i need help in raising funds to continue these searches for my father. Please can you help me. Your support would be deeply & forever appreciated.
