Help me bring Colour to a Care Center for People with Disabilities

Hello! My name is Elena Ciolacu and I am a visual artist.

I'm setting up this campaign with the hopes of receiving any little help or support for a charitable project I am currently working on: the management of a Care Center for People with Severe Disabilities in my city has asked me to help them beautify the center with mural paintings, something which they feel is ardently needed because the building (although renovated and kept pristinely clean) has a very eerie and unwelcoming "hospital atmosphere" with its long corridors and big white walls. The center is situated in a former Orphanage built in the '70s, so the architecture is reminiscent of those gloomy times.

The mural paintings would benefit the patients, but more than anything they would benefit the staff working there (nurses, cleaners, educators) who do an impressive and difficult work, both mental and physical, caring for people (of all ages) with various mental and physical health conditions. I want my paintings to bring them a little bit of calm and joy.

Although the center is state-funded and receives sufficient supplies of medicine, food, clothes and funds for utilities and other needed expenses, they don't receive funds to beautify the space. This is the reason why for many years they have struggled to find artists to help them with the murals, because the project is very challenging: the space is very big, so the cost of the materials and the artist's labour is significant... it's very difficult to achieve it without some sort of funding.

• My main goal is finishing up the corridor in the picture below. I've completed a first mural last week and I'm currently working on the next one. I will adjust the complexity of the next paintings as I go along, having in the mind the deadline, because at the start of November they will bring in more patients on the floor I'm working on, so that will make it almost impossible to continue working.
• I've estimated the total cost of the project (supplies + my work) at roughly 4000 EUR (19 500 RON) but I don't expect to raise that amount so I've just put in a random amount as target for this campaign. Any amount that will be collected by the end, will be enough and highly appreciated. And regardless of how little or how much I manage to raise, I will still complete this project, but any little contribution from you will help me immensely feel the financial burden a little less :)
• For the start I've covered the cost of the first batch of supplies (200 EUR) which should last me for at least half of the corridor. I will then need to stock up on more paint tubes.
• I will keep you updated with how the paintings are coming out, both on my social media and here as well.

Inițiez această campanie cu speranța de a primi sprijin pentru un proiect caritabil la care lucrez în prezent: conducerea unui Centru de Îngrijire pentru Persoane cu Dizabilități din orașul meu mi-a cerut să îi ajut să înfrumusețeze clădirea cu picturi murale, lucru de care au mare nevoie deoarece clădirea (deși renovată și păstrată impecabil de curat) are o „atmosferă de spital” (cum mi-au spus ei), apăsătoare și tristă, cu coridoare lungi și pereții mari și albi. Centrul este situat într-un fost Orfelinat construit în anii '70, așa că arhitectura amintește de acele vremuri sumbre.

Picturile murale ar aduce beneficii pacienților, dar mai mult decât orice ar aduce beneficii personalului care lucrează acolo (asistente, îngrijitoare, educatoare) care fac o muncă impresionantă și grea, atât psihică, cât și fizică, îngrijind persoane (de toate vârstele) cu diverse afecțiuni mentale și fizice dintre cele mai severe. De aceea îmi doresc ca picturile mele să le aducă un pic de calm și bucurie.

Deși centrul este finanțat de stat și primește provizii suficiente de medicamente, alimente, haine și bani pentru utilități și alte cheltuieli necesare, nu primesc fonduri pentru a înfrumuseța spațiul. Acesta este motivul pentru care de mulți ani s-au chinuit să găsească artiști care să-i ajute cu picturile murale, pentru că proiectul este foarte dificil: spațiul este foarte mare, deci costul materialelor și al muncii artistului este semnificativ... de aceea este foarte greu de realizat pentru orice artist fără un fel de finanțare.

• Scopul meu principal este să termin coridorul din imaginea de mai sus. Am finalizat o primă pictură murală săptămâna trecută și în prezent lucrez la următoarea. Voi ajusta complexitatea picturilor următoare pe măsură ce avansez, având în vedere termenul limită, pentru că la începutul lunii noiembrie vor aduce mai mulți pacienți la etajul la care lucrez.
• Am estimat costul total al proiectului (materiale + munca mea) la aproximativ 4000 EUR (19 500 RON), dar nu mă aștept să strâng această sumă, așa că am pus o sumă aleatorie ca țintă pentru această campanie. Orice sumă care va fi colectată pana la final va fi suficientă și foarte apreciată. Și indiferent de cât de puțin sau cât de mult reușesc să strâng, voi duce la bun sfârșit acest proiect, dar orice mică contribuție din partea dumneavoastră mă va ajuta să simt mai puțin povara financiară :)
• Pentru început am acoperit costul primului lot de materiale (200 EUR) care ar trebui să mă țină cel puțin jumătate din coridor. Apoi voi mai avea nevoie de tuburi de vopsea.
• Vă voi ține la curent cu modul în care ies picturile, atât pe rețelele mele de socializare, cât și aici.
• Vă mulțumesc foarte mult pentru orice formă de sprijin pe care o veți binevoi să o oferiți, fie donând, fie spunându-le prietenilor despre această campanie.

În semn de mulțumire, toate persoanele care vor dona (cu excepția celor care vor alege să rămână anonimi) vor avea numele incluse într-o pictură murală specială pentru donatori, la sfârșit.
