Mama Africa Pendo is a small Community Based Organisation (CBO), founded by Mary Njeru in March 2015, which is committed to serving people in Mathare slum (Nairobi, Kenya).
Its services are dedicated to children and women in several fields: education, medical and psychological counselling, launching small businesses and helping them grow.
Mama Africa Pendo believes that educating children of the slum from young age is key for long term results. Therefore it's supporting 50 children in kindergarden and 30 in primary school. Furthermore it sends 8 children to boarding high school and even pays for University education of one lucky girl.
Recently Mama Africa Pendo temporarily lost support of its biggest sponsor. This has caused an incapability of paying rent for the kindergarden, teacher's salary and last but not least food for the children. The organisation got into dept and it's threatened by the property owner with being expelled.
We, as volunteers, are currently working on building long term sustainability that isn't dependent on one sponsor only. Right now, however, in order to be able to support local community in the future, we would like to ask you for help to be able to feed the kids and pay the rent a teachers salary.
We, the kids and the community would be really grateful if you decide to contribute with a small amount and share our message.
