Help Malissa Fight Cancer

Hi There!! My name is Malissa Alleyne and I thank you for taking the time out to read my story and help me raise funds.

I am a first time mom who was recently diagnosed with High Grade Ductal Carcinoma. This all started one day when I decided to do my usual monthly self breast check and discovered a lump in my right breast, afraid of the situation presented, I made an appointment with my local GP which was a week later and by that time my underarm was quite swollen. My GP checked the area and told me not to panic as she would rule this as an abscess and recommended an ultrasound.

A month later after doing the ultrasound the results came back inconclusive and I was referred to a Surgeon. The surgeon I visited assessed the area and recommended a Core Needle Biopsy as it seemed more to him as a lump rather than an abscess, he took the samples and sent it for testing with a wait period of three weeks.... I was in nettles and needles awaiting the results but within a week I received a call to visit the office, when I arrived and awaited for what seemed like hours I was called in and told that the results are suspicious and further testing would be needed, these samples would be sent to Miami to come to a conclusion and I would be notified within two weeks.....The wait period seemed like forever, eventually I was called again to the office. On that dread day I found out I was diagnosed with invasive High Grade Ductal Carcinoma and would need chemotherapy soon as possible which would be done in two phases. However, throughout this entire experience I am working on maintaining positive hopes and strong faith as this experience is a challenging and terrifying one. My seven month old has given me the strength and courage to face each day as some days can be quite exhausting.

The doctors said since I am a young patient, they tend to treat young patients with more aggressive drugs that would target and possibly shrink the mass in preparation for the final procedure which would be the removal of the breast. During the time of my therapy, I would be monitored and a series of test would have to be run to see if any changes have been made to the mass. After the completion of the second phase I would then make the decision to either have a lumpectomy or a mastectomy. Since then I have been trying to raise funds for the first phase Chemotherapy which is estimated around $40,000 for the first phase of the therapy.
