A little bit of context
In Vietnam, attending school is not a given.
Particularly if you are a child of the country’s ethnic minority population, which makes up more than 60 per cent of the country's registered poor children. In fact, the most recent study revealed that just 60 per cent of ethnic minority children complete the first five years of primary education, compared to 86 per cent of Kinh children, and due to the high cost of school fees almost a third of ethnic minority households have a child that drops out of school before completing a grade - which is true for just 16 per cent of Kinh families.
These are the specific communities Loreto Vietnam has been helping for almost 21 years, through targeting Sustainable Development Goal #4 – A Quality Education.
Here’s what we’re doing
Something very simple, but very effective. We are working to improve the educational infrastructure in southern Vietnam's most underprivileged communities, so that those children who do attend school are able to receive the quality education they so deserve.
About Loreto Vietnam
We are a 20-year-established Aussie organization, working out of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, that is 100% dedicated to capacity building in Vietnam’s poorest parts.
We work with underprivileged children and their communities in remote, rural areas to enhance opportunities by developing educational infrastructure and providing resource support in schools that could otherwise not afford it. Our team of five is a small but passionate team of women, working to empower Vietnam’s most disadvantaged communities.
We distribute school packs, rural scholarships, and bicycles and helmets to underprivileged children so that they can attend school, and we work to enhance existing infrastructure by building and renovating classrooms, libraries and multi-purpose education rooms in under-resourced schools in remote, high poverty areas of southern Vietnam.
Why we need your help
Operating and surviving financially as a non-profit organisation anywhere in the world is not easy, but in the Vietnam context it is even more difficult.
We depend 100% on the generosity and goodwill of our donors and supporters to remain in operation and to continue impacting positive change in Vietnam. Without your help, we are unable to deliver on the projects we have promised to the communities we work with, and so we ask for your help in supporting our operational AND project costs - we cannot deliver one without the other.
By donating, you could change a child's life - their prospects, their potential, their possibilities. So please, dig deep today and help us empower all of Vietnam's children.
For more details on our projects and our approach to capacity building & development visit www.LoretoVietnam.org
Please note: some banks choose not to enrol in a 3DS secure payment programme - an additional level of security applied by many sites as a fraud prevention measure - and if so your donation may be unsuccessful.
If this is the case, we recommend trying with another card (ideally a Mastercard) or visiting http://loretovietnam.org/donate/ to donate directly to Loreto. If you take this route, please send us a message to let us know so that we can update the campaign tally!
Huge thanks & appreciation,
