help keeping strays alive and healthy on the streets

Hi there. I live in Valencia, I have a Slovenian passport. I live in a homeless shelter. I dont receive any benefits and have ran out of travelling money, but im a huge animal activist and I set out every day to seek abandoned animals, feed them, home them if possible, basically, I make sure they are not hunglry and have enough water. I pet them if they let me. With time they get use to me and befrind me, but like with most strays they are afraid of humans, especially if they have been treated badly by their previous owners. So i take time and let them know i can be trusted. I do nothing with force, I take time to talk to them and they do respond :) But as I said, I drive out of town 60km approx and spend money for gass and food for the little furry friends. Today on my way to the library I saw a kitten in the middle of the pavement, did not move, skinny to the bone, blurry eyes. I was eating, and I of course stopped. I fed her my breakfast and i could see she was grateful. Her eyes were not so blurry any more. But she did not let me pet her. I left some food on the side for her in case she would come back. I also don't eat animals but in the shelter there is mostly meat served so i dont get enough food for the day, which means i have to buy extra food for myself.
