HELP “INANG” FIGHT POLYCYTHEMIA VERA

Update posted by Roel Dulay On Aug 09, 2019

9 days and 2 surgeries were done at the Philippine Heart Center. Still, we are not losing hope that Inang's right foot would be saved. The first surgery was Embolectomy which didn't work due to blood clots had built up right after it was done. The second was the Femoral bypass. Yes, there were improvements, the color of her foot has normalized but the pain was still present also, the most important part was missing "Blood circulation". Doctors found out through doppler ultrasound that there was no blood circulation in her right foot which made them think to perform their last resort which is foot amputation. However, they believe there is still a solution, and they decide to involve more specialists to save her foot. We don't know how much more surgeries she could endure because of her age and the fact that her Polycytemia is in a high-risk stage that might compromise her life. Demotivated by the recent outcome, Inang is still hopeful that this ordeal would be a happy ending. Please continue to pray for her and the doctors so they may be able to come up with the right treatment and solution. Thank you!

August 2, Friday, the Embolectomy surgery to save Inang's right foot has pushed through. It was a successful operation which gave relief to the family. Inang was under observation for a few hours and finally transferred at the Women's ward yesterday August 3.

However, tests indicated, there are still blood clots remaining on her foot and will schedule another embolectomy surgery at 8 pm today, August 4. Please continue to pray for the success of this coming surgery so that it will not result in amputation. Thank you!

It was on the eve of Wednesday July 31 that Inang was brought to Manila for better medical care. The family decided to go to Philippine Heart Center where she was first rejected for an emergency. They took the chance and finally she was seen on the E.R. Doctors were quick to attend Inang's situation as her foot is getting worse. They requested to have all the tests redone as the previous hospital gave an incomplete lab report with the assurance from the doctor that they would fix her foot. It is a breathed of fresh air hearing the doctor's assurance and urgency. It was then decided to have her admitted but due to lack of bed, temporarily she is staying at the E.R.

We appreciate all the donations and prayers will provide more update on days to come.

Inang is supposed to be transferred in Manila for a better medical facility. She was endorsed to Philippine Heart Center as an emergency patient. However, the receiving end at the hospital did not see it as an Urgent case and was rejected for charity. The transfer was put on hold. Inang's health is in compromise and her right foot is getting worse. Today, the family is planning to have her admitted at National Kidney Institute (NKTI) where specialists for her condition are present. Please continue to pray for the Lord's guidance as we are in a race against time.
