Help in Buying a CT Scanner Machine for a Hospital

My name is Asad Zaman, and on behalf of my younger brother Ameer Hamza, who never made it to his nineteenth birthday, I am trying to help my local hospital, the DHQ Hospital Swabi, raise the funds needed to purchase a 320 Slice CT Scanner.

Had they been in possession of one four years ago, my brother might still be alive.

On the 23rd October 2014, Hamza was hit by a car. He was fully conscious after the accident, with only a minor visible injury to his head, talking with us as he normally would. When we brought him to the emergency room, the doctor stitched and bandaged him up, and he seemed ready to go, but the doctor then suggested we get Hamza a CT scan, which we had to drive two hours into the next city to do. After a two-hour drive, and a three hour wait, the doctors at the second hospital found that he had sustained an internal brain injury, and blood was pooling in his head. They did a Craniotomy, but it was too late. The next day, my brother was gone.

Had a CT scan been available for him in our home city, his chances of surviving would have been eighty percent.

DHQ Hospital Swabi has been in a dire condition for a long time. With only 74 beds for a district of 1.1 million, a lack of sufficient staffing, and positions like radiologist, medical specialist, and anesthesia specialist non-existent, there are even cases where very ill and contagious persons have had to share beds. Since my brother’s death, there have been several more cases just like his, and with a blind eye from the government, and a lack of resources, we have nowhere else to turn.

Crowdfunding is my only hope.

While I have to raise 2 million in total for the CT scanner, I am asking only for a million online. The other half I will be campaigning and fundraising tirelessly in my city to secure. There may be no help from officials, and little to go around, but this machine can save so many lives, and so it is worth trying for.

Please, if it is even a dollar, anything you can give would truly help. I have the support of the hospital and my community, and several businesses and organizations I have appealed to every single day. Now all I need is you.
