Hello! Help us support the frontliners of Brgy. Tambongon in Bacacay, Albay by providing medical equipment and office supplies to the barangay health nurse and barangay health workers. The barangay is one of the 26 GIDA (Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas) in the municipality of Bacacay and the major mode of transportation to reach it is by riding a boat in a nearby port.
In rural areas, access to primary care is vital because it serves as the entry point to the healthcare system however many LGUs, especially in poor communities, still struggle to provide basic health services to their constituents. Basic health services are essential for the residents of Barangay Tambongon especially since the residents would have to travel by boat in order to access health services from other facilities.
The local budget for health is insufficient for purchasing basic medical equipment for the barangay health personnel. Currently, the health center in the
community has only 1 blood pressure apparatus (sphygmomanometer) shared by 6
health personnel, 1 bathroom scale, 1 digital thermometer, and 1 first aid kit. Most of these were purchased these were bought using their own money.
In line with this, the barangay, we St. Luke’s College of Medicine (SLCM) interns would like to improve the delivery of health care services in Barangay Tambongon through acquisition of basic medical equipment for the barangay health personnel. We are hoping to provide their health center with:
- Nebulizer - 1 piece
- Handheld fetal doppler - 1 piece
- Blood pressure apparatus (Sphygmomanometer) - 5 pieces
- Stethoscope - 5 pieces
- Weighing scale with height measurement - 1 piece
- Office supplies (Logbook, Pens)
It's our turn to give back to the frontliners, let's support the health workers of Barangay Tambongon, Bacacay, Albay! <3
