Help Ilgin with his IMD MBA Tuitions

Born and raised in Istanbul, I, unfortunately, experienced how the country went through a radicalization period over the last couple of years. The adverse effects of radicalization were reflected in many aspects of the social life as well. Increasing violence against women, deterioration in the education system and decreasing welfare due to ill-judged investments and budget allocations ( instead of allocating higher budget to the education system and technology, Turkey increases funding to the directorate of religious affairs) are the primary side effects.

I was always determined to attend a top MBA to hone my business skills, to enrich my network and to move abroad. The drastic changes in Turkey and continuously worsening circumstances made it a must. Feeling alienated from the society, we are enforced to live in closed circles.

An elite MBA for me means not only career progression and enriched network but also an excellent opportunity to improve my social life. Settling in Switzerland is a dream. With a strong GMAT and solid professional background (two years in strategy consulting and another two years with Unilever), I got admitted to all three top MBAs that I applied to (HEC PARIS; IMD and INSEAD). The strength of my applications is reflected on the scholarships end as well. While INSEAD does not distribute scholarships in the last round, I received the "Academic Excellence Scholarship" of HEC PARIS and the "Emerging Markets Scholarship" of IMD.

My motivation for settling in Switzerland along with the considerable scholarship made my choice comfortable and I am willing to attend IMD. The scholarship, however, only covers the half of the tuition&fees. The total tuition&fees of the program are 85,000 CHF without the scholarships. My savings are very limited, whereas my parents cannot support me much financially. My mom is a doctor with moderate income, and my dad is a retired white-collar. Moreover, I am on the verge of marriage, and I would like to provide the best life I can for my family. Still, making my fiancee move to Switzerland with all the hopes but uncertainties is a stressor.

I am a highly determined and hard-working guy, and I try my best to become an excellent example of a global citizen giving back to the society. Moreover, I will work hard to break down the rightful prejudice against Turkish people and showcase that every nation can have model citizens.
