Campaign Story
Good day! I'm Madam Jocelyn, a 67 year old grandma from Malaysia with 3 kids, 4 grand-kids, 6 four-legged permanent furry kids, and many more rescued or fostered furry kids who are for adoption (currently about 10)! Stray dogs are a common issue in Malaysia, as most pet owners have not learned the importance of spaying/neutering their pets. As such the stray population is high and many suffer on the streets from malnutrition, diseases and injuries or death from road accidents. Unwanted strays also commonly get caught cruelly by local municipal councils that keep too many dogs and puppies in deplorable unclean conditions until they get euthanized.
For several years, I've been helping to reduce the suffering of these innocent and loving animals by feeding, treating, spaying/neutering strays and getting the adopted, mostly with my own small amount of funds from my small monthly salary as a kindergarten teacher (MYR1700/month or about USD425/month). To date, I have successfully re-homed an estimated over 100 dogs, and I have also started a makeshift shelter for my rescued dogs which can house about 15 - 20 dogs at a time. My work to help save dogs has even gotten me in the news twice! See news links below:
1) Living to protect her furry friends
2) Even the strays are not forgotten
Due to my progressing age and small income, it has become more difficult to continue helping dogs on my own. Hence while I continue to foster some dogs, I have located another shelter manned by people willing to help care for some of my dogs, but requires funding to construct additional pens for my rescued dogs and other costs of fostering a dog until they are re-homed, estimated as follows:
Food: MYR50 or USD12.50/month per dog
Vaccinations: MYR150 or USD37.50 for 3 jabs (for puppies)
Spaying/neutering: RM200 or USD50 per dog
Medical treatment: Variable depending on illness. Common ones are mange, tick fever, parvovirus and distemper
Would you be so kind as to help support my efforts to rescue, rehome and reduce the suffering of Malaysian dogs? Any contribution would be appreciated! If you are Malaysian, you may donate to the following:
