Campaign Story
A few days ago my cat Felix started to lose her appetite, she would get hungry but would end up only taking a bite of her food. Being quite a fat cat I didn't notice anything until I realised that although she looked bloated, her hind legs where starting to get scrawny. Noticing something wasn't right, I brought her to the vet where she was diagnosed with jaundice and after a few blood tests it turned out she has the parvovirus. Not only did she have parvovirus, she also has FIP which was confirmed due to the amount of water retention in her abdomen.
Felix has been hospitalised since and is currently on an IV drip. The vet has told me that for now they would be focusing on getting her to recover before proceeding with any FIP treatment.
As of now for the parvovirus alone, the treatment would cost me RM1300.00. As for the FIP, the costs would be exorbitant as treatment for FIP in cats using the antiviral drug called GS-441524 would need to be administered daily over 12 weeks with a 14 day supply costing well over RM500.00 at the minimum. I forsee the total cost of medication and care to exceed RM3000.00 on top of any associated veterinary costs such as the blood tests and hospitalisation.
FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) is almost always fatal viral disease and GS-441524 is her only hope of recovery.
I am hoping some kind hearts could help me contribute to give Felix a fighting chance to overcome these viral infections. Every donation counts, as I am financially drained. Your kindness and generosity can make a life-saving difference for Felix.
