My father was admitted last 21 March 2019 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in the Philippines due to passing black stool for the past 2 days.
Doctors suspected that the strong pain relievers he was taking for the pain on his feet had caused upper gastrointestinal bleeding. His WBC was 23 upon admission, so he needed an immediate 3bags of blood transfusion. He is continuously on antibiotics to clear him from sepsis.
The intense pain he was feeling on his feet is found to be due to peripheral artery disease, a bad circulation of blood that caused his gangrene feet and wounds that don’t heal. This also resulted to small blood clots that had travelled to his lungs which caused his Pulmonary Embolism/Edema/ARDS. He needs to be on respirator/manual ventilator to assist his breathing as it is difficult for him to breath on his own.
Doctors also found that the pain medicines and other medications he used to take have badly affected his kidney. He developed a chronic kidney disease which spiked his creatinine level. He is on catheter now because of difficulty in passing fluid. Fortunately, he doesn’t need to undergo dialysis at the moment and his creatinine has dropped to a more manageable level.
He is staying in the ICU since the day he was admitted as he needs to be closely monitored due to his condition.
I am humbly knocking on your generous hearts as our family needs funds for his medical bills and medicines.
Even a small amount would be greatly appreciated and wouldn’t go unnoticed. Prayers are mostly welcome!
Thank you and God bless you!
