Our sweet girl, Meeko, has always been a bundle of energy, and a bundle of joy as most Great Danes are. She is a 4th July baby and turned 5 this year. Two months ago, she began limping on her right leg so the vet did xrays and in his opinion it was a partial tear of her meniscus in the knee, just like a human would. She went on a series of steroids followed by anti-inflammatories and didn't seem to improve. One specialist visit later, it was confirmed that not only does she have one tear in the right knee, the left is now also showing signs of tearing. It could be as little as a week or a month and she wont be able to walk without the surgery. It pains me to see her hurt this way. Our only option is a double knee surgery involving bone saws and titanium plates that I try not to think about but if she is to have any future at all, the surgery has to happen quickly or it then turns into arthritis issues and the inability to walk. She has been with us since she was 7 weeks old and loves meeting everyone and everyone loves her too. This is where I need your help. This surgery is way beyond my means to afford right now. They are asking $5500, which doesn't include follow up visits or medications. The recovery is a long process and will require months of post op care. I sincerely thank you, not only for the possibility you could assist financially, but just for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this unexpected road we find ourselves on. I have hundreds if not thousands of photos of her and her big Dane brother, yes I have two Danes and we love them both dearly.
