Help for Mama Merced

Mama Merced (my mother in law) has been with our care, living in our house for the past three years.

She was diagnosed with schizophrenia approximately 20 years ago due to severe depression and anxiety. (UPDATE: we have attached the last clinical abstract we gained from her doctor when she was initially transferred to our care)

With our kids growing up, we cannot sustain Mama's challenging and demanding needs. My brothers and sisters inlaw are also living by the day and can only help whatever they can. The government had very little support for mentally challenged people, that even the governement hospital for mental health (National Center for Mental Health) charges php 24,000 for accommodation excluding doctor's fee and medications.

Curretly, mama is living with us at Bliss Muntinlupa, Philippines. However, we are struggling to get her stay in our house as she is being more agressive and violent - safety of our kid's welfare is still our priority. We still want to help and sustain Mama's needs as a tribute to a mother who had struggled in life being a single mom of 6 children. The money being raised is to help us get mama a good home care to help her get the medical and psychiatric help she needed. The most affordable yet comfortable that we have canvassed so far is 20,000 php excluding the check ups fees, miscelleneous (snacks, laundry and toiletries). The institution would need advance and deposit fees amounting to php 50,000 (plus medical work ups) before we could check her in which is why we are humbly asking for any amount you could help us so she could finally get the help she needed. Once she finally settles, we will take care of everything she needed on a monthly basis.

Aside from setting this gogetfunding account, we also hope that this activity will raise mental health awareness to the government and to the society.
