Help Fatma Fulfill Her Dream!

For the last 20 years, I dedicated my whole life, studies, and career to the built environment and sustainability. Despite all challenges, I proudly hold 3 degrees; a Diploma in Architecture, Bachelor in Interior Design, and Master's in Civil Engineering. and now I’m striving to reach the peak of my academic ladder by pursuing a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering - Sustainable Design.

Most of my previous studies were self-funded by working and studying simultaneously. Since 2016, I’m a Ph.D. candidate in UTHM, Malaysia which it’s also self-funding. In 2017 I was forced to postpone my studies and return back home to Sudan for financial obstacles.

A year after, I went back to UTHM to resume my study and chase my dream after selling all I have in Sudan. The main problem was the policy of the Sudanese Central Bank which didn’t allow me to take all my money in foreign currency with me. therefore, I kept it behind.

Due to the enormous inflation, the Sudanese Pound dropped from 47 SDG per 1 USD in 2018 to 380 SDG per 1 USD in 2021. In short, I had to send my monthly allowance and tuition fees from my bank account in Sudan at the new rate which means I kept losing more and more of my savings value.

Currently, with the COVID-19 situation, I can’t find a job to cover my tuition fees for the last semester and my living expenses for the next 8 months as below:

- Last semester tuition fees: USD $1,000

- Monthly living expenses: $300*8 = USD $2,400

That's why I urge you to donate now, so I can fulfill my dream and not shy away from any amount. Every small bit counts and makes a difference.

I would like to bring your attention to the fact that timing plays a critical role because if I didn’t pay the tuition fee ASAP, I won’t be able to register for my final discussion (VIVA) until I clear my debt.
