3 months ago I was volunteering with Raleigh International in a WASH Project at a village called Mkindo in Mvomero-Tanzania. It was about awareness creation on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene alongside construction of gender-specific toilet blocks (18 flush-pour toilets)to a Primary school which previously had 4 drop holes toilets (Boys2/Girls2) with no hand washing facility while with 986 students. You can imagine how those kids were vulnerable to diseases like Diarrhoea the most killing disease to children under 5yrs. Thanks to everyone who was involved from fellow In Country volunteers, UK volunteers, village and Mvomero District Council since we smashed and brought laughter to students and the community as a whole. Behavioural change towards WASH related issues was witnessed within the community. During the course of the project I became experienced and acquired extra miles in knowledge and skills to apply in my community for sustainable changes and development. I became passionate and decided to continue giving back to the community in terms of knowledge and skills. A head of me is an action at home as part of the volunteering programme (ICS) and what I have planned to do is visiting Orphanage Centres in Dar es Salaam give out WASH lessons and construct sustainable Tippy Taps for hand washing since its reliable and need no running water. To accomplish this I really need your supports since I'll be going around those centres and their geography is not good. Help me attain Sustainable Development Goals no.6 (clean water and sanitation), no.3 (Good Health), no.10 (Reduced Inequalities) so that Orphans can feel secured and have that sense of the world is a better place for them to live.
