Despite the market growth, the average coconut farmer in the Philippines lives below the poverty line on less than $1 per day (source) because the buying of lugit(dried coconut meat) is very cheap. Without income to invest back into their crop, farmers are defenseless against typhoons, pests, aging trees and other environmental factors that wipe out entire crops in an instant. At this rate, demand is far outpacing supply, and if we want to keep the coconut industry alive, it’s up to us to buy coconut products that help, not hurt.

As a government employee and in-charge of the first Tufting Facility (Cocohub) in the Philippines and also as a son of a farmer, I would like to help the farmers family to have another source of income through making coco coir products such as coco ropes, coco coir mat, geonet, coco pots, and other related products. But, in order to achieve that livelihood, we would like to ask from your very good heart to fund our equipment and raw materials to start. We need to buy twining machines, coco fiber machine, and appurtenances.
