Hello!

My name is Savin Mun :) I am 23 years old and I am a university student at BBU, Build Bright University in Siem Reap. I am on my fourth year of studying economy, with the hope of being able to start my own business to fully support myself, my family and hopefully one day start a family of my own. I study part-time and work part-time at a small laundry shop, that my older brother helped me set up, to support myself, my girlfriend and pay for our education. I grew up in a family of 6 children in a little rural town in Northern Cambodia. After finishing primary school I left my home town when I was 14 years old to study in the city, and eventually entered into university. I believe that studying and working hard is my best bet at a bright and sustainable future for me and my family.

The business I intend to create involves a blue-green algae named Spirulina. I've come across and even become good friends with foreigners who continually have been mentioning Spirulina. Now, the particular reason for why I've become so interested and committed to spreading this product is because of it's unique nutritional value. My business idea is inspired by a European NGO project which aim is to combat malnutrition and undernourishment globally. I'm lucky to be backed up by this European project, who has already helped a Cambodian family to start and run a Spirulina farm and a couple of friends, Mathias and Julie from Scandinavia, who are helping me with the fundraising since Paypal is under restrictions in Cambodia.

Because poverty is such a widespread problem in Cambodia, and has been for many years, health and malnutrition issues are common, especially among Cambodian children. When people are truly poor; they are poor in everything. They are poor in life choices, poor in food choices and poor in health in general. I believe that financial means should not be an obstacle to good health and a good life. But by making a product like the beautiful blue-green algae Spirulina not only available, but more accessible to the people, we can alleviate many of the common diseases and painful health conditions, which in many cases simply stems from malnutrition. My hope is that one day everyone on earth will be able to choose to consume the most nutritious foods. To bring that moment closer to it's actualization is the ultimate aim of this project.

Even the smallest donation goes a long way. I hope you support this project and want to help me make this dream a reality.

Thank you for your interest and support,

Savin Mun
