Help Baby Rui to shine like a sunshine again

I am the mother of Baby Rui and I am raising funds to get surgeries for my baby.

Rui is my first baby who is 2 months old and was born in Our Lourdes Hospital, Manila, Philippines on March 15, 2023.

We pray for a baby boy and God gave him to us. He was a jolly and a ray of sunshine baby boy.

On the first day of his life, Doctors discovered he got Apert syndrome. Apert syndrome, also known as acrocephalosyndactyly, is a genetic disorder that causes the fusion of the skull, hands, and feet bones. It is characterized by deformities of the skull, face, teeth, and limbs. The apert syndrome occurs in one out of every 65,000 to 88,000 births. In addition, all fingers and toes are fused together which causes infection on the thumb. Apert syndrome also brings many other birth defects. After two weeks(March 15-27,2023) being hospitalized and confined at NICU and IMCU at Lourdes Hospital, the doctor referred Rui to St. Lukes's Hospital to have his nasal cavity surgery concerning his breathing. Because Lourdes Hospital does not have enough facilities for Rui's case.

Baby Rui has alot of birth defects. One of them is his skull has corpus callosum agenesis, posterior interhemispheric flax hemorrhage extending to bilateral tentoria and choanal atresia, bilateral.

His eyes are slightly side-spaced and bulging, the eyelids tilt downward abnormally at the side.

Rui got noisy breathing – the smaller nose and airway passages made breathing difficult. He is mostly breathing by the mouth. And now he was

two and a half months old his breath getting worse, so the doctor decided an immediate surgery on his nose to unblock the posterior nasal cavity is narrowed because the bones and muscles merged together once we have the funds for this. This is the major and first surgery he needs to undergo to have his normal breathing.

After this surgery, he can breathe better on his own. Currently, we're in the hospital because of this issue, we need to conduct the suction on his nose every 3 hours to prevent blockage and his currently intubate to help his breathing. He also has a nebulizer to help his breathing as well. Doctors said we need immediate surgery to save his life. This is the first move we need to do for our baby Rui and the rest will follow and it will cost around 2-3 Million pesos to conduct the hands and feet surgery.

The next step after his nose surgery, we are waiting for the next surgery for the skull/head advancement when he turns into 6mos (3mos from now June 12, 2023), to give more room for the brain to grow normally. Doctor also decided to do surgery on the fingers to separate the finger's bones. The surgery cost is estimated at around 3 Million Pesos if complicated. We do not have any insurance.

Were combating a lot of challenges in his situation and this is not the last issue we will face in terms of Rui's syndrome.
