Help Angel Break Free and Pursue a New Beginning

Hello everyone,

My name is Angel, and I'm reaching out to share my journey and seek your support during a challenging time in my life. At 18, I embarked on a thrilling adventure into the world of scuba diving, fuelled by a passion for exploration and independence. Little did I know, this journey would lead me to unexpected challenges and financial burdens that I am now struggling to overcome.

My scuba diving journey began with a leap of faith into an internship program called "Zero to Hero," which promised to take me from a complete beginner to a certified Dive Master. Leaving my hometown of Malaysia behind, I embraced the opportunity to learn and grow in Brunei, working tirelessly at a dive centre in exchange for certifications and a modest allowance.

Despite the initial excitement, my experience quickly turned sour as I found myself overworked and underappreciated. Days blurred into nights as I juggled various tasks, from housekeeping to cooking, with little time left for actual diving. Yet, I persevered, driven by the promise of a brighter future in the world of scuba diving.

In 2019, my dedication paid off when my boss recognized my potential and sponsored me to become a certified scuba instructor. However, this achievement came with strings attached – a two-year commitment to the dive centre in return for their investment in my training.

Fast forward to 2023, and I found myself still tethered to the dive centre, struggling to make ends meet on a minimum wage while shouldering the responsibilities of multiple roles. Despite my hard work and dedication, I was met with indifference and broken promises from my employer, leaving me feeling demoralized and undervalued.

Now, faced with mounting debts due to my resignation, I am reaching out to ask for your help. With half of the amount owed to the dive centre already covered by my March salary and commissions, I am hopeful that together, we can raise the remaining funds needed to break free from this contract and pursue a new opportunity that awaits me.
