Many women in poor European countries like Romania rarely have the chance to make their living with regular work
It’s a profitable “business” that women show their bodies on webcam sites - but not for the women themselves.
Many women are exploited financially by one of 2000 Mafia-owned “webcam studios” in Romania and sometimes sexually abused.
Andreea (I have changed her name) is a 21 years old Romanian student. She is a young woman who - like many others of her age - is learning hard to pass exams and enjoys to spend time with her friends and boyfriend.
But she also needs to eat, pay rent and bills, … So she was working part time as waitress - without a contract and for 200 Euro per month. This salary could only pay her rent.
She started to work in a webcam studio with the hope to earn more - 6 nights per week and 8 hours per night. From 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM because US based male website members are online at European night time.
After sleeping 3-4 hours she has to go to university, home to learn for her next exams, is sleeping a bit and then back to the studio … from day to day it’s becoming harder to focus on learning. A good education is her only chance for a secure future but it’s a matter of time until she has to quit university.
And she still has troubles to cover her living costs because the studio cuts off 60% of her earnings and she receives about 300 Euro every month.
With every 300 Euro you can secure Andreaa’s living conditions for one month - 8700 Euro will help her until she graduates in a bit more than 2 years. She will have a part time job again and can focus on her future.
But with every donation you will not only secure one woman’s future - you fight sexual exploitation that happens every day in the heart of Europe!
If the donations for this campaign exceed the amount of 8700 Euro, Andreea will help another woman in the same situation.
