Help a Mom

I am Paulie anne, eldest & only daughter of Yolanda Espiritu’s three children, she is now 65 years old, widowed and no grandchildren yet. A caring and hardworking mother who wants the best for her children, we grew up knowing she has Asthma but to our sorrow, this last May 2019 she asked my brother to go to hospital as she has extreme difficulty in breathing. She was diagnosed to have Pneumonia and was hospitalized as her whole body was swelling and she also could not walk or write. There are enormous bacteria in the lungs causing the sticky mucus that bothered her with non-stop cough, full body water retention and deprived her of restful sleep due to extreme coughing. Soon after she developed very painful bedsores due to long hospitalization. To our horror, Doctors diagnosed that she has Chronic kidney disease (secondary to hypertension) and Liver cirrhosis. Although the Pneumonia bacteria was killed by antibiotic treatment then dialysis treatment (to remove the water in lungs and then the toxins buildup caused by strong antibiotics), she suffered a heart attack as effect of a very low blood pressure and thru the Mercy of God, she was revived! After a prolonged hospital confinement, wherein we taught she is already recovering, suddenly she suffered from high Ammonia toxin levels in blood, leading to Hepatic Encephalopathy. This is very dangerous as can lead to coma. We prayed non-stop while she is in ICU to let her recover and thank God she soon recovered from this liver illness. However, all these terrors can all come back!

So the doctors have given as Ongoing treatment: Hemodialysis. To prevent and remove extra water and toxins buildup in the body, it is a 3x a week dialysis treatment, but does not include the medicines, the hospital/nurse charges, the repeated injections, recurring tests and follow up consultations which are all very costly. Doctors also went back to her previous diagnosis a decade ago, and was referred to have Angiogram, to determine the blockages in her heart, this is causing the difficulty of her lungs in getting and providing oxygen to her body, which we believe might be the real cause of all underlying complications/disease.

Our mom is a brave woman who we admire as it is not easy to remain calm amidst all these trials of illnesses. She is a fighter and we are all daily praying to God with full trust.

As her children who loves her very much, we want to provide her with medical treatment for her to live well, with Angiogram and right after Angioplasty, it will solve the root cause of all her sufferings from diseases. We want to regain her hearts strength thru this operation, that as per doctor will be best for her in order to fully recover and live normally.

We hope that by our testimony, we will be able to reach good Samaritans. May our story touch lives and may our experiences guide others…
