Campaign Story
Dear Friends and Supporters,
I thank you for taking time to read this short campaign.
Francis Joseph Loddo is a resident of Gibraltar, 45 years old and medically retired. He was a Sterile Services Technician, but medically retired 3 years ago when his kidney transplant failed after 14 years of successful operation.
Francis Joseph undergoes dialysis three times a week for 4 hours. He lives alone in an apartment supported by Gibraltar Government. Recently, his doctors discovered valve disorders with his heart which requires surgery (valve replacement). On February 26, 2020, Francis Joseph will undergo heart surgery in UK.
I met Francis Joseph in December 2018 through Facebook. Later, he subscribed to my YouTube Channel: Mauro Allan Padua Amparado. My channel focused on minimalism and my vegan & fruitarian lifestyle. He was very interested with my channel and made wonderful comments as a subscriber. We exchanged messages in Facebook and emails, which became venues for him to share his story.
With my meager salary in the Philippines, I would compute 10% to financially assist Francis Joseph on a monthly basis. The donations were used for food and medicines. I did not mind sending him financial support. God has made me an instrument to help him through hard times.
Recently, the heart complications have become a burden to him. He would call me at 2:00 AM (Philippines time) to share his physical pain. I would pick up the call, and somehow the conversations would ease his pain. I would see tears rolling from his eyes and I could feel the hardship. "This is not living. I am tired," Francis would sometimes say.
But I was always there to listen and would stay awake until his pain would go away. And I would always encourage him to go on with life. But I am facing the reality that my support for him will not be enough. And I am asking for your assistance, let us help Francis Joseph. Your donations is highly appreciated for his food and medicines.
