Hi there!

I am Philip Guerero and I am a Christ-follower. I am currently discipling 10 kids who are poor. Some of them are young fishermen by necessity, so as to help with their family's daily needs.

What attracted me to disciple these kids is the idea of God's power being more visibly manifest in the lives of these kids, and that His glory may be even more known.

"At that time Jesus said, ‘I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants;yes, Father, for such was your gracious will." (Matthew 11:25-26)

In my weekly bible studies with these kids, it all just seemed like I was watching in awe as the Lord Jesus Christ Himself continued to open the eyes of these kids to His truths. Indeed, it is the Lord's pleasure to make known His wisdom to these babes, and to hide it from the wise of this world.

One of my dreams is that for these young people to be instruments for city-wide movements here in the island of Lapu-Lapu City (an urbanized island in Cebu), and eventually, for the people to truly repent and confess that Jesus Christ is the Only Savior and Lord. Time and again, I have always confessed to God my inadequacy in teaching these kids, always dependent that every utterance of mine may be from the Spirit and not from my own intellect. And one of the things that I have been praying for is that these kids, though they may not have much money for now, may have the opportunity to join a leadership camp attended by brilliant Christian student leaders from colleges and universities in Cebu -- so that they too will be inspired to pursue college and from there speak boldly of our Savior in our increasingly secularized educational institutions.

This leadership camp is to be held this November 1-3 2019 in a resort in the Cebu province, and this is being sponsored by Campus Crusade for Christ - Central Visayas Chapter. The team leader of CCC - CV was one of our leaders in CCC - Silliman University (Dumaguete City), where in my third year in college I got to receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I have also been partnering with him in his campus missions ministry and their other initiatives to reach the lost, especially the youth and young professionals in our region.

By profession, I am a CPA with humble means; I am also the eldest who currently support my family in their needs, so finances in my ministry is something that I have always surrendered to God. For this event though, the registration fee is PHp2,500 per participant (USD 50), and I am praying that I can send eight of my disciples to this conference, so I am aiming to raise Php20,000 (USD 400). While I myself never had the chance to experience a youth or leadership camp before, I believe from various anecdotes of Christians that these events made a great impact in their Christian lives, and even jumpstarted their desire to actively initiate movements in their own campuses and communities to lead others to Jesus, to accept His sole saviorship and submit to His supreme lordship.

I am taking a wild chance reaching to an unknown person like you, confident that I have prayed for this for weeks already. As Hudson Taylor said “God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply.” I am confident that the Lord's work will lead us to the people that He is going to use that they in turn will be blessed and behold God's glory working in each of our lives.

If you can at least pray for these kids that God will do far immeasurably what they could ever think or imagine, and if God is moving your heart to help in our fundraising campaign, it would mean a lot for us!

God bless you and may you continue to surrender your life to God's greater work, for the joy we get, while it is spiritually discerned, far outweighs all other joy that this world claims to give.
