On August 15, Typhoon #7 hit the Kansai region of Japan and our outdoor childrens Food Bank, HALE ONO, sustained some damage to its tents, signage, flag poles and outdoor structures.

We are seeking donations to cover the cost of repairs which is close to ¥200,000 (about $1,400).

HALE ONO was started by Richard & Lani Hawkins on March 20, 2022 and opens every Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 2pm - 4pm for children to eat Instant Noodles such as Ramen, Udon & Yakisoba. Children can take the Noodle Bowl home or HALE ONO provides hot water for them to eat at the tables provided.

We offer burgers or hotdogs on most Wednesdays and water and other beverages when donated.

As of August 15, 2023, we have served over 2,550 meals.

Providing food, including the donations, has set Richard & Lani back financially as we had no idea we would have 350 children a month to feed. We need all the help we can get.

You can see the progress we have made on Instagram: @haleono808

Richard lived in Hawaii for twelve years and Lani for six. Our intention is to help our local community, perpetuate the Hawaiian Culture and provide inspiration to our children that come to HALE ONO.

Aloha to all.
