A study recognizes that there is a large number of people in Tanzania communities who are unaware of their human rights, they don't know more about children rights and girls issues thus lead to an increase of violations mostly in the rural areas, Example some communities still practice FGM - putting thousands of young girls at risk. There are also a number of violence against women and youth in the streets and killing of people with albinism which is against humanity.
"One day in a public transport there was a discussion on how importance is for someone to understand their rights as a citizen, Passengers were complaining that many people don't know their rights due to poor or lacks access to information. Some said it could be very nice if we had a MOBILE App that gather, put in and update Tanzanians about human rights and what's currently happening in the World, challenges and solution of so many problems - taking advantage of the growing mobile industry in the country.
Problem - People from different communities are afraid to take actions or report law breakers to the prosecutors, and this is due to lack of confidence which is the result of failure to access and acquire as much information on how to stop and take meaningful actions to stop and report these violations.
Solution - HAKISA - a user friendly mobile app that collects as many human rights information from different trusted organization, activists and the government to enable people to access and increase their awareness on how important is to know their human rights and act accordingly.
Target - More than 10 million smartphone users in Tanzania from various zones, with the special focus on women and youth from the rural areas.
PLEASE DONATE - If you have got a dollar, there is plenty to share.
Thanks.
